Happy Chinese New Year with cats!
I’m an Assistant Vice President in the Customer Experience (CX) division, [Singapore Economic Development Board (“EDB”)](https://www.edb.gov.sg/). I also oversee [EDB’s Connections Concierge](https://www.edb.gov.sg/connections-concierge/service-providers.html), a listing of Singapore service providers to potential investors of Singapore.

I’m part of two strategic workstreams, which I can’t really talk about in detail. At a high-level:

  • A strategic design workstream with our Strategic Planning team, which will likely take the rest of the year, if not longer. Last year, I had to facilitate and plan a remote workshop on Microsoft Teams for 90+ participants for this workstream: perhaps the most stressful task I have done to date!
  • A joint team with a private company, exploring the feasibility of bringing a digital service to Singapore.

Side Projects (21 Feb 21)

Last year in 3Q or so, I worked on a interactive prototype for a Digital Dharma project idea I had in mind, which I am calling Bright Stone. The videos of the interactions are here and here: the prototype was built using Sketch and Origami Studio, over a couple of weekends.

I am still learning coding, specifically Dr Racket, as I decided to take a step back, and learn how to properly design programs (How to Design Programs (HtDP)) before devoting my time to Javascript. Working through HtDP’s book’s exercises was quite slow, so I am now enrolled in an edX course based off HtDP: it’s behind a paywall, but I am learning a lot from watching the videos and the exercises (which thankfully have solutions: so slow when there are no exercise solutions…).

I am concurrently also using the CSC’s partnership with Udemy to do Angela Yu’s Web Development Bootcamp, which came highly recommended from a friend who teaches these things.

Mulling Over (21 Feb 21)

I have been exploring How to Design Programs, and it has been (a) hugely fun and enjoyable, and (b) super easy and clear. I am becoming a fan of Lisp.

Opportunities in digital Dhamma/dharma – I have been thinking a lot about using digital to create tools or experiences for people to enjoy calm in their minds. [Update my playground project Raging Bull v1.0 is along these lines! Check it out.]

Meditating
30+ mins a day.
Now I do so twice: the second time for around 15 mins around noon.

Working out
Starting Strength Linear Progression. Current weights: Squat 237lb (106kgs). Bench Press 160.5lb (72 kgs). I am not doing squats, as I had injured my lower back with a heavy squat late last year.
